 SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGER & CONTENT CREATOR, NYC

 

Job Overview:

We are hiring a Social Media Manager and IG Reels / TikTok Content Creator responsible for the strategic development and content execution for Alala. This role is perfect for anyone who thinks creating content is their “love language.” This is a contract to potential full time position.

This role will oversee the creation and development of Alala’s organic social media content, social media campaigns, curate brand UGC, manage social media content creation, and engage daily with a community of fans, influencers and customers on social media.

 

The Social Media Manager will film Alala content, edit and story-tell through all social channels to help inspire, empower, uplift, teach, make their audience laugh, feel good, and help them fulfill their greatest potential. They will oversee the creation and development of video-driven content and social media campaigns, execute topline ideas, and curate and shoot content with the brand founder. They will also engage daily with the team to discuss how to integrate business initiatives, product launches, and brand efforts into Alala’s social media content and day-to-day storytelling.

 

The Social Media Manager will work closely with the brand founder and marketing team to ensure that all video content is authentic, inspiring and engaging. The position requires a creative and proactive individual who has a strong aesthetic, is deadline-driven, and can work across multiple levels of approvals to plan and execute the agreed-upon social media strategy.

 

Extreme attention to detail is an absolute must. Must be a person who has a knowledge of fashion and culture, appreciates sophistication and luxury, can find the humor in everyday moments and is a natural storyteller. Must be a self-starter and able to jump into a fast-paced environment quickly. We’re looking for an intelligent, self-motivated problem solver who’s experienced, can think ahead of errors or mistakes, has autonomy and ownership over their work, will research solutions before asking questions, can bring new creative solutions to the table, and is results-driven.

 

This role is based in New York City and will report to the brand founder and her team directly.

 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Skilled on an iphone and professional equipment with the ability to go high and low
  • Provide art direction and ability to pivot quickly in high pressure situations
  • Possess the ability to not miss a beat or detail
  • Must have finger on the pulse to stay ahead of trend (not behind trend)
  • Must love IG & TikTok and an avid consumer of social content to understand the landscape
  • That you have great energy, great style and taste, and that you’re funny! Or at least appreciate humor… and can find the humor in most situations
  •  That you’re a great storyteller

  • Have 2+ years of Social Media content creation experience

  • Knowledge of IG Reels and TikTok editing, love social media content as a whole

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to remain calm, warm, professional, and courteous at all times

  • Empathetic and uplifting personality

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize appropriately

  • Ability to be a quick thinker, researcher and troubleshooter

  • Basic computer skills and comfort in using the company’s CMS platforms

  • Willingness to work autonomously or as part of a team

  • Willingness and flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required

  • Understanding of major social media channels required

  • Interest in culture, style, entrepreneurial, and beauty trends is highly preferred

  • Previous experience working with talent or style-driven clientele is a plus

  • Proficient in video editing, text, and subtitles, animations, or motion graphics to keep edits exciting, fresh, and ahead of the trend

What We're Looking For:

  • Work creatively and become an instrumental part of the brand’s greater mission to support and inspire people, bringing humor, light, and positivity
  • Develop and dial into an overall social media vision and strategy that creates an engaged community across all branded social channels

  • Create compelling ideas, work across multiple departments, and manage timelines to ensure approvals needed as it relates to all social media work

  • Serve as a creative swiss-army knife, be a skillful, authentic storyteller, have the ability to manage an omnichannel social presence for Alala, and understand content marketing

  • Shoot, produce, and edit video content, seeing the entire process through from start to finish

  • Handle the post-production and delivery phases of creating engaging socially driven video snippets formatted for Instagram Reels, TikTok, etc

  • Hold finished videos to high standards, aiming for coherent storylines, seamless transitions, visual appeal, and alignment with creative vision

  • Source additional assets such as audio and visual effects, TikTok trending sounds, etc.

  • Assist with the recording of voice overs, collaborate with sound engineers to create sound effects, or research appropriate music tracks, ultimately integrating these into specific scenes of the video

  • Oversee brand’s social media platforms in entirety, fostering community and engagement

  • Consult regularly with the brand founder to clarify requirements, receive feedback, and make adjustments throughout the entire post-production process

  • Assist with documentation and archiving by logging metadata and compressing videos for storage

  • Support the marketing team and senior management team as needed

SALARY + EMPLOYMENT DETAILS:

Salary range commensurate on experience: $60,000-70,000. 

This is a contract position to start with room to quickly transition to Full Time. Must be local to NYC or surrounding area.

We are a small woman-led, women-run team dedicated to making beautiful functional athleisure, engaging in meaningful moments, and inspiring women everywhere in the idea that they can have and do it all. We are based in NYC. However, at the moment our entire team is working virtually. While we aren’t together physically, our team is always supportive and encouraging of one another, which cultivates a positive environment!
